Location: Hellaby, South Yorkshire (S66)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing the information and decisions to enable the activities required during the design, manufacturing, and fit out stages of production, in accordance with the project and contract requirements.
  • Managing the implementation of new and ongoing projects, identifying and resolving technical issues, interfacing with the Customer when necessary, Suppliers, and internal departments.
  • Managing the review and acceptance of designs within a particular discipline.
  • Supporting the Engineering Manager in the development of designs.
  • Supporting the programme's design capability.
  • Providing assurance that all aspects of electrical engineering within a particular discipline have been carried to an acceptable standard.
  • Liaising with other engineering areas to ensure best practice is applied to the engineering and a common approach and specification where appropriate.
  • Attend project meetings with the vendors and customers as required.
  • Assist the Projects Support controllers as necessary in their functions.
  • Coordinate information obtained from other departments through the Project Team.
  • Support, review and expedite production.
  • Assure the correct document distribution and information flow.
  • Provide support in obtaining answers to outstanding technical questions.

Education/Qualifications:

  • Ideally qualified to HNC or above in electrical engineering or suitable level of experience to demonstrate knowledge.
  • AutoCAD certified user or professional would be an advantage.
  • PRINCE2 Foundation level desirable.

Previous Experience:

  • Gained within the industry or similar industries i.e., Mechanical, Electrical, Fabrication, O&G, Energy and Power Generation.
  • To drive and resolve to drive the projects forward without conceding on the specification & scope of work and quality.
  • In an industrial or manufacturing company within a similar role.
  • Working on a number of projects simultaneously.
  • Working with different material / component selection.
  • Working with multifunction teams.
  • Using Solidworks sheet metal module would be an advantage.
Essential Skills:
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • In depth knowledge of the electrical engineering discipline.
  • Experience with the design, specification and construction of the built environment.
  • Experience managing the review and appraisal of engineering documentation / specifications.
  • Experience working with construction practices within the UK industry, including understanding of UK H&S Regulations, CDM Regulations, Quality and Environmental Control.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with multiple stakeholders.
  • Customer focused, self-motivated, comfortable in liaising with customers, suppliers and sub-contractors and used to working within tight deadlines, managing numerous projects running concurrently varying in both the generator and switchgear industries.
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings.
  • Works well as a team player or on own initiative.
  • Flexible approach to working, willingness to accept changing priorities.
  • Good commercial acumen & interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to work in an organised manner.
  • Computer literate and able to use a wide range of software packages.
